The History of
Gostiny Dvor
History & Documentary
Story
Throughout its history, the Old Gostiny Dvor was at the center of city events as the roads of merchants, diplomats, travelers and scientists passed through it. Here they traded overseas goods and made deals, learned the latest city news. Its pavilions housed the city stock exchange and trade shops of large industrialists.
The exposition includes architectural and archaeological objects found during excavations on the territory of Moscow Gostiny Dvor and nearby alleys, as well as in the premises of the building during the reconstruction in 1995-1998
The project occupied the public galleries of the renovated Gostiny Dvor and became a bridge between the modern cultural function of the building and its historical heritage.
Specially for the opening of the project a gift set was developed, which included fragrances created on the basis of historical functions of the building: the first city pharmacy, fair and tavern as integral elements of the Gostiny Dvor, as well as unique historical bottles (diffusers). The fragrances are created in collaboration with perfumer Alena Tsishevskaya

Visual communication
In consortium with our long-term partners Tuman Studio, a unique design code and overall graphic design of the project was developed.
Identity and membership package tailored for frequent visitors of the Manege association. The typography employed infuses an architectural cadence and a sense of historical heritage, all the while maintaining a modern flair. The illustrations showcased within the package depict distinctive architectural and archaeological artifacts uncovered during extensive excavations of the neighboring regions, as well as the meticulous restoration of the Gostiny Dvor in the 1990s. The color palette chosen, characterized by cool shades of silver-blue, harmoniously echoes the hues adorning the association's edifices.
