Story
The Zverev Art Prize seeks to champion and encourage diverse forms of contemporary art, spanning traditional mediums such as painting, sculpture, and graphic works, as well as newer expressions like street art and new media. The prize honors the 90th birthday of the artist Anatoly Zverev (1931–1986), and was established by the creators of the
AZ Museum — the CEO of the Museum Natalia Opaleva and the art-director Polina Lobachevskaya.
The motto of the competition was the phrase of the Soviet avant-garde artist ugene Lanceray: «Art is free, life is constrained». More than 2,000 applications from 169 cities in Russia and 32 countries were submitted for the contest. Seven experts selected 50 works that participated in the competition.
«Here visitors can see a reflection of the world we live in and have an intellectual treat. There are very many references to the history of contemporary art in the works. ... But these are projects unrelated to Zverev’s biography and his work. He is here as a representative of the underground, of freedom when it was forbidden - in this Zverev is the main beacon here»

«The principle of inner freedom, the ability to go beyond the boundaries, not to follow the accepted dogmas - this was the most important thing in choosing the works of contemporary artists. And there is really an amazing variety of themes and techniques here, and it is very interesting. It is something worth going to this exhibition for. (Zverev Art Prize Nominees)»

Temporary exhibition axonometry (the large wine cellar hall)
«Together with Natalia Opaleva, who came up with the idea to show the change of space under the influence of art, we used the concept of gradually revealing the white boxes. The pipes located in the space were made white, and a visitor entering the exhibition could not see them at first, but as he or she moved through the space they became more and more visible, which gave the impression of being caught up in the process of forming the museum space, as if art was slowly changing it. And if you imagine coming to this same exhibition two years later, it would be completely white, a real museum space. Here we were in a dialog with 50 young artists and decided which method of representation would work best.»

Construction process
To accomplish the project, a structural system of timber beadboard was designed around the entire perimeter of the space. The force frame ensured that artworks and technical equipment could be attached without using the load-bearing elements of the historic space. The depth of the framework allowed for the works to be destanced from the existing building elements and allowed artists to utilize various elements to mount their works of art
Basic construction principle (wooden beam 50 x 50 mm)
Visual communication
In consortium with our long-term partners Tuman Studio, a unique design code and overall graphic design of the project was developed.
The visual design revolves around the portrayal of a communal workshop set within a red brick space of Winzavod. The identity is based on the concept of a module that seamlessly integrates into the architectural space, adhering to the fundamental principle of a single color and font. The use of yellow signifies the life-affirming light, serving as a symbol of the creative act.
